Im Geoff McConnell. Born Newry, Co Down, N. Ireleand. Dec 1960

Grew up in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim. Left school June 1977. I got into the music from listening on the radio, and with an older friend who was a Dj just playing soul Funk and Northern. After school I joined the RNR at HMS Caroline. It was whilst on HMS Caroline I was offered a chance to help and then DJ myself at a local bar. This was every other weekend as l was at sea the others.

After the RNR I Started working as a warehouse assistant from Aug 77 till 1980. when l started with the post office. In May 82 the DJ side really elevated after I got a monthly gig in Bangor, Co Down. This lasted a year before for work purposes I moved to Knaresborough , North Yorkshire.

In 85 I moved back to Northern Ireland and began gigging again at HMS Caroline.

In 88 went full time with the reserve service, whilst completing the Hydrographers course. During this time served on HMS Endurance and Hecla, as well as a spell on HMS Coventry. Retired from my Naval Service, as a Chief Petty Officer, having completed 34 yrs service.

93 – 95 back to Northern Ireland. Got a residency with Come N Get It, with guest DJ's joining us. After moving over to Belfast I had residences at the Duke of York and Vico's and had various gigs supporting bands at the Limelight, Mandella Hall and Rotterdam, as well as a few other venues.

I started the Nu Smoo gig at Morrisons, which lasted about 2yrs.

99 I started working for NISGS and then retired Dec 2020. Moved to Cleethorpes in 2022.

Had a break, and got back guesting for Ketch a Vibe crew, who got me doing shows for Reminisce and XRP radio as well as the occasional guest show for Electric Lion Radio.

Got shows with Cool Zone, based in Taranto, Italy and keeping myself busy by going through the crates to present my Universal Vibes show.

When not doing something with music, my other passion is Football. I am a avid Linfield, Wolfsburg and Watford fan.
